The Edakkal Caves are a popular tourist destination located at a short distance from Kalpetta. The place is signified due two caves that are separated by a large rock. It is a must visit place in the region as it is an example of great architecture. The caves are located 1,200m above sea level and make for a great surrounding view too. The caves have been known to be formed by the arrows that were fired by the sons of Lord Rama, Prince Luv and Kush. Thus, many locals visit this place considering it as a pilgrimage spot of Kerala

Banasura Sagar Dam, which impounds the Karamanathodu tributary of the Kabini River, is part of the Indian Banasurasagar Project consisting of a dam and a canal project started in 1979. The goal of the project is to support the Kakkayam Hydro electric power project and satisfy the demand for irrigation and drinking water in a region known to have water shortages in seasonal dry periods. The dam is also known as Kuttiyadi Augmentation Main Earthen Dam. The dam has a height of 38.5 metres and length of 685 metres.
The Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary is popular animal sanctuary of the region and is located between 4 mountain ranges of the Nilgiris. It is also considered an integral part of Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. The area is popular as it houses many endangered species like the Indian bison, deer, elephant and tiger. The sanctuary also has many bird species like peafowl. The region is popular for the Elephant rides that are organized by Kerala Forest Department.
